Mango Deck – Cabo’s Spring Break Bar and Restaurant
I was not planning on leaving our small slice of heaven which was our all-inclusive resort on our trip to Cabo. We live in San Diego so we’re just a short and cheap flight to Cabo and I knew we’d be back again. I didn’t do an ounce of my normal research on what to do or where to go once we booked our hotel and flights.
Once we were there, we gave in and let our Mexico enthusiast friend take us “off-campus” to experience Cabo. Night 1 was Squid Roe. Night 2 was Acre. Day 3 was Mango Deck.
I had never heard of this place or knew anything about it.
My first impression was, “Oh a bar/restaurant on the beach, neat.” Followed by, “Oh some live entertainment, cool.” And then finally, “Oh so this is spring break.”
Drinks were fine, food was average, service was awful… but we had a blast!
Once we got our table, our Mexico aficionado immediately got us all inappropriate Cabo headbands.
Things escalated quickly when we convinced one of our friends to enter the “Simon Says” contest. She didn’t want to and on the first round sat back down at our table and almost gave up.
After some encouragement, enthusiasm, and a couple of scrapes and bruises, she ended up winning the whole thing! It came down to the last round where it was who could collect the most bikini tops. The troops were rallied and our girl came up with 8 tops. The competition came back with a measly 2. A complete blowout!
She won us a round of margaritas for the table. Speaking of our table, we started out with 3 of them. Throughout our time there, they kept taking tables away from us until the 6 of us were huddled around 1 little table. Strange.
The next event on the docket was the push-up contest. I was very excited to throw my name in the ring for this one. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring home the margaritas as the girl next to me was a bit stronger. A little more training and a little less alcohol and I would’ve had it in the bag.
For our group’s final appearance, one of our own was selected to be the judge of the dance contest. And by “selected” I mean he paid $40. He had a great time, but I’ll leave all the details out of that one.
The bar is right on the beach which is beautiful. Lands End is in the background which is where you find the famous Cabo arch. The waves here were pretty strong. A couple big ones sent water rushing up to tables where people were sitting.
Another wave produced this beautiful sequence of events:
Our time at Mango Deck had come to an end and it was time to return to our palace for the night.
Just a few more photo opps on our way out and we called it a day.
