Where to Eat in Barcelona
There are so many options when it comes to bars and restaurants that it can be quite overwhelming to decide where to eat in Barcelona. Here are the places we ended up eating at during our trip.
Tapas
Trobador
This was one of the more expensive places we ate at, but it was worth it. We had sangria, Iberico ham, calamari, and garlic shrimp. All superb. This was the best calamari of the trip.
Vinitus
Vinitus was packed when we got there, but we didn’t have to wait to get seated. By the time we left the place was empty since everyone was always on a different eating schedule than us.
Once again very good food, but much smaller portions than Trobador. We had mini hamburgers, Iberico ham baguette, calamari, four cheese bread, solo mil with foie gras, tenderloin, pork shoulder and brie, and sangria.
Aviny 10
Here we just split a prosciutto pizza and that was it. It was good, nothing special.
La Lola
La Lola is one of the restaurants at the top of the Arenas de Barcelona. Cute place, nice views, but the food was subpar. We had subpar nachos, bread that wasn’t warm, ham croquettes that we couldn’t finish, and peppered sirloin. The sirloin was actually quite good, but everything else wasn’t worth it.
El Donostiarra – Sitges
We loved this place. We ate on the bar side where they had a wide variety of bread tapas with different toppings. You grab whatever you want and they’re all 1.60 Euros each. They were delicious, and I loved the authentic atmosphere.
Breakfast
The Benedict
We were headed to Milk Bar when we stumbled upon The Benedict. We liked the look of it more so we ate here instead. The atmosphere was super cute and fun, food was spot on, and the smoothies were very satisfying. This was our favorite spot of the trip and we ended up going back again. Highly recommend.
Milk Bar
At Milk Bar, we ordered pretty much the exact same thing we had at The Benedict. We had huevos rancheros, eggs benedict, and smoothies. The food was good, but Benedict was better in both food and atmosphere.
Granja Petitbo
This seemed to be more of a local, hipster-type spot. The atmosphere wasn’t for me, but the food was good. The benedict was on a very soft focaccia bread that was delicious.
L’art Del Pa – bakery/pastries
We only ate here because we didn’t have much of a choice early in the morning before heading out for our activities. We had some croissants and mini baguette sandwiches aka flautas.
Pic Nic – Sitges
Pic Nic had a simple breakfast menu. There were just a few choices but the prices were good, it was right on the beach, and opened at 9am. The food was good too. It seemed to be popular with the locals where many were meeting up for breakfast.
Gelato
Gelateria Stand on Las Ramblas
This one was cash only so I had to run across the street after ordering to get money out of an ATM. Anything for some gelato! In hindsight, I got this one because it was the first one I saw, and it ended up being the most expensive of all the places we saw.
Oggi Gelato
Nothing special here, but gelato is gelato!
Chocolate Box Gelato
This one may have been my favorite. I ordered cookies and cream and they gave me a full oreo with it. Big win!
Gelatiamo – Sitges
This place was great because it had a new unique flavor from the rest of them for me to try – Cookies!
Other
Bacoa Burgers
This was a very delicious burger. The meat was juicy and flavorful. They have a few locations around town but we ate at the one on the boardwalk at Barceloneta.
Puglia in Tavola Pizza
There were a few small pizza places in a row we found in the Gothic Quarter. We chose this one and ordered by the slice. It was fine, but nothing memorable. Good for a quick bite but not a sit-down restaurant vibe.
Travelers Bar
We had a few drinks here and some calamari. The calamari wasn’t great, but the drinks were good and the atmosphere was fun.
We were there on a Wednesday night which happened to be trivia night. We came in last. Of course, we as the only American team had the least worldly knowledge.
La Boqueria
La Boqueria is a market off of Las Ramblas with many different food options. We didn’t eat here but we did walk through it. It was recommended to us a few times to eat at El Quim.
